Met-Ex® Expanded Metal is a very versatile product. Lighter per cubic metre and stronger per kg than the sheet of metal from which it is made.
With Met-Ex® expanded metal there is no interweaving, interslotting, brazing or welding. In other words, Even when cut into irregular shapes and left unframed, there is nothing to work loose or fray either through vibration or as a consequence of heavy impact.
With no welds or interwoven strands, Met-Ex® expanded metal shows excellent corrosion resistance.
The knuckles formed by the cutting and expanding process support weight and withstand stress better than joints or welds.
Used as the sides or as inserts in containers it allows air circulation without compromising strength or security.
Manufactured by Windsor in Auckland, NZ using mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel, pre-galvanised steel and a range of other special materials are available on request.
Metex is available ex stock from many metals merchants in a range of diamond sizes and materials. Special sizes and materials can be manufactured to order, minimum quantities apply.
The raw material is slit and stretched by the machine in one movement so there are no punched out components, therefore there is no waste using expanded metal.
The material is available as raised mesh or semi-flattened mesh. Use raised mesh for strength, flattened mesh for flexibility.
